Week 37, Balance–give each area in the photo equal visual weight
This is Week 37 photo number 2. Since I’m still catching up, I decided to post two photos for this week’s challenge. I couldn’t make up my mind which spoke balance more. You decide.

Week 36: Low Key
I thought I would try out a wedding photo in color using the low key Nik filter–yes cheating. The Photoshop videos were way too annoying to sit through much less try to follow. Not sure if this fits the bill for true low key, but I liked the effect when compared to the original, particularly in the skin tones.
You might recognize this couple from a previous 52-week challenge photo. They are my son and daughter-in-law.

Week 35: Stitched Panorama
In no particular order in catching up on five lost weeks of the 52-week challenge, here is my first ever attempt at a stitched panorama in Photoshop. It’s not even a particularly interesting scene unless you consider the location. I was standing in the middle of the enormous archaeological site at Selinente in Trapani, Sicily, gazing toward the Mediterranean Sea. Those ancient Greeks really knew how to pick their sites. They built eight temples here. If you look really hard, you can see the remains of one of them near the center of this photo. Unfortunately, most of them were reduced to rubble by the Carthaginians in ancient wars.

Week 40: Tell the story of a colorful picture, in black and white
Time to get my head back into photography after weeks of hiatus due to travel and after-travel catch-up. What better way than with a very colorful image, but with all of the color removed. Can you imagine what it looks like in color? Would color distract you in this very busy image? Are you able to focus on the intricate design in the absence of color? Does the subtlety of the grayscale appeal to you? Or do you miss the color?
The full original art (in color) is currently at the Renwick Art Gallery in Washington, DC. This is just a small portion of the original. Sorry, I wasn’t taking notes; I don’t know the artist’s name. The Renwick does encourage photos.

Week 31: Tell a story using frame-in-a-frame
Just think about all of the law students who attended the University of Michigan Law School who sat in this particular chair, in front of this particular window, at this particular time in the afternoon. What do you suppose they pondered?
